Pony Club Manager
While putting together a basic subscription database to fit in with our local Pony Club (using the structure outlined in The Way Forward), it occurred to us that other Pony Clubs might benefit from this kind of programme as well. So with a substantial amount of extra work, we are proud to be the parents of another fabulous FileMaker Pro database: Pony Club Manager (paddock name: PC Man).

This has been a labour of love, and will continue to be improved and updated as required. We have 30-day trial versions available for both PC and Mac. These are fully-functioning databases; if you wish to continue working with the programme beyond the trial period, purchase a registration code and this will un-lock the database for the rest of the season.

Next season, you can choose to renew your licence (at the same cost), without losing your data.

And if you don’t want to continue using the programme, you can export your data to be used elsewhere.

What will the programme do for me?

Have a look at the brochure, which outlines most of the functionality.

What if I already have my information in another programme?

If you don't want to re-enter your data manually, we can import your data from most sources (Excel, tab- or comma-delimited text, etc) at our standard rate of $28.75 per quarter of an hour. As a guide, most of our imports take less than an hour.

How much?

The cost for one year (season) is $86.25 (inclusive of GST).

But wait, there’s more....

As a special introductory offer, if you purchase the software before 1 October 2010, your registration code will be only $56.25 including GST for the season, instead of paying $86.25.

What’s the catch?

Nothing, really. You don’t need to buy any further software, nor are you hooked into the database for life. Just make sure your computer is capable of running the software (see brochure). And remember it is a ‘try before you buy’ so there is no risk involved.

How do I find out how to work the software

Our guinea pig was our own PC secretary, Mary. She had the fun job of testing and working with the system without any documentation (because it wasn’t written yet!). She found it easy to find her way around and worked things out by herself.

But just to make sure, we have written a brief manual which comes with the software. We have tried to make this as non-technical as possible so you don’t have to wade through pages and pages of techno-babble only to find out that it’s too hard to understand the answer anyway.

If you do get stuck, you can call us for support on 0900-54 272 which incurs a cost of $2.30 / minute. However, we don’t envisage that this service will be used much...

How do I start?

Download the software from the downloads page.

The trial starts the first time you open the database. Your account and password are in the manual. (This is our sneaky way of making sure that you at least have the manual at your fingertips!)

How do I purchase a registration code?

You can request an invoice using the contact form for your club and pay by cheque or direct deposit.

Overseas purchasers can use the SumWare Consulting web store - but must contact us first to ensure Pony Club Manager seasons match your season.

Anything else I need to know?

Yes.

Make sure you back up your database REGULARLY.

While we can usually help if you have a corrupted file and don't have a suitable back up, it will cost your club money.

To back up, just quit PC Man and then drag the entire PC Man folder to a pen drive (USB stick) or external drive. It is best to do that every time you have added or changed a lot of data.
