Removing Trial Data

When you've finished with the sample data in Athenaeum, you want to remove it so you can enter your own data. This is quite easy, if not obvious.

Athenaeum includes sample catalogue records, borrowers, borrower types, circulation data, history data and catalogue archives.

To remove this data, you can either go to each module in Athenaeum and delete all records, or use the utility buttons created for exactly this purpose.

The Delete Utility

In Athenaeum Pro, do the following:

  1. Contact SumWare Consulting and obtain a special password you may use to start Athenaeum Pro
  2. Start Athenaeum Pro with that password
  3. go to the Options Main Menu
  4. Click the Utility button on the Options menu (it's at the lower left).
  5. You will see the Utility screen, with a number of less commonly used functions.
  6. Click the "Find All" button.

This will run through every file in Athenaeum and perform the "Find All" menu option from the Select Menu.

  7. Click the "Delete All" button.

You will be asked if you really want to do this, and then have to confirm twice more. After three confirmations, you are then asked for your options password (can't be too sure now, can we!). After entering your options password, Athenaeum Pro will then run through each file and delete all records automatically. Depending on your computer, this may take a while.

In Athenaeum Light and Athenaeum Express, the utilities menu can be found by clicking the "Programmer" button at the configure screens.
