FileMaker Pro is a database environment that has been around for over 16 years (it started out as a DOS program called Nutshell) and has won a lot of fans due to it's rapid development environment and flexibility of application

It is widely used by many as a personal database tool. However, over the last 5 years, it has gained wide acceptance in medium and large businesses. Some large corporations in the US that use FileMaker Pro are Pizza Hut Corp., The Body Shop, Walgreens, The Shoah Foundation, NASA, The Franklin Mint, Showtime, Monster Cable, The Alabama Eye Bank, Rhino Records, Warner Bros, Informatics Health Care, Harvard University, Otis Elevator, Frankel & Co., Northern Telecom and more. The wildest example I've seen is by a large US bank that handles their wire transactions on a wide area network spread across two cities. Over a million records are live in the databases at any time and operators may only see their own records. Performance is said to be great!
